Youthification

I have many patients, friends and family that ask me "So, what have you been up to?".

Now, what they usually want to know is what is the latest that I've been thinking, researching, studying, discovering and learning in my clinical practice. These people know that I'm an absolute health junkie and have an undying passion to study cutting edge info in the health/wellness field. These people have learned over the last decade-plus that what I share with them typically does not become more common, accepted knowledge for about 5-10 years. Hence, why they always want to know what I've been up to....

Well, this blogsite was developed for you! My hope and plan is to blog very frequently so you know the 'latest and greatest' and can refer to this blogsite to know some of the latest and greatest things going on....

So, let's begin!

Over the last couple months I have been putting together my seminar on "Youthification: What does age have to do with it?" I gave this seminar via webinar to over 30 physicians and it was well received. So, I decided to present the same seminar at my bi-monthly (twice a month) community seminar last Tuesday, August 18th. It was a smash! The room was packed and we got great reviews and several follow-up phone calls about it.

Youthification. Yep, it is a catchy name and I'm pretty proud of coming up with that title while swimming laps early one morning! But what is youth but the absence of 'dis-ease' that we have become conditioned to believe is normal aging?

I remember in 1995 when I was in my 30's, a 50-ish year old patient said to me "Listen little girl, when you get to my age you will see that all these aches and pains and problems are just normal!!!". Well now I'm into my 50's and I continue to scream to anyone that will listen: You don't have live a life of aches, pains, fatigue, weight gain and depression!

The first secret to youthification?

As one patient once said to me, "I've realized that the secret to health and wellness is how I allow the three pounds above my neck (ie: my mind) to drive the 100+ pounds below my neck."

I couldn't have said it better myself. If we just choose to make the right "mindful" decisions about our lifestyle, diet, exercise, nutrition, detox etc, then the rest of our body "below our neck" will follow.
